The prosecution has asked for a more severe sentence against the teacher who molested his student in a Budapest secondary school: they want to ban him from teaching under-age students ever again.
On May 24th 2018 a seventh-grade girl asked her 50-year-old English teacher what she needed to do to get a better grade at the end of the year. The teacher told her they would discuss it privately the next day, when he remained alone with the girl. Then he hinted that he found the girl attractive and ‘had some ideas in mind’ about how to improve the grade. The girl ran away crying and then informed her form teacher about what had happened.
The Budapest 14th and 15th District Prosecutor’s Office charged the man with endangering the emotional and moral development of a minor. The court sentenced him to one year and eight months in prison, suspended for three years’ probation, and banned him from teaching and supervising minors for three years.
However, the district prosecutor claims that a man who commits such an act is unworthy of teaching minors ever again. The defense appealed for acquittal.
